SFOTT | if your Mac thinks it’s a Macpro3,1 but it is not.

For those having a “MacPro3,1 issue”

Some users like Bill, Gnar and others have had an issue stating their Mac was a MacPro3,1 when it was not.

First, I didn’t get what the trouble was, then we finally found that it was the “first version of MDE” that was messing.
I did not catch that I did not use the same MDE as they did.

Those having the issue did use the “1st version of MDE” and I was using the “second version of MDE”

Now that I understand what the problem seems to be, I’ve installed the first version of MDE on my guinea MacMini2,1.

I’ve not been able to reproduce the Macpro3,1 issue on the mini.
As rastafabi stated it does not work anymore, that could be the reason or maybe it only worked on MacPros…

Anyway Rastafabi send now to the new MDE “version2″, the one that I did use and installed on a USB stick and that worked on both my MacMini2,1 and the Macpro1,1.

I’ve wrote a script today to get rid of the “MDE Version1″ kext.
it will basically delete the kext, rebuild the kextcache, repair permissions and reboot.

I’ll put the script as a standalone command to run before, if any others have the “MacPro3,1 issue”.
it will downloadable from here and I’ll also include it in the dmg of the next release I’m working on.
I may also include this command in the extras Menu.
